Garry is a highly experienced Technical Consultant with over 22 years in the IT industry who contributes significantly to a number of DMS Registry & Regulatory Solution’s systems.
As a Technical Consultant Garry works closely with Directors and Account Managers, identifying viable solutions to business problems, providing technical input into tender responses, and advising senior management on technical strategy whilst occasionally dipping back into development to build proof of concepts and help keep his development skills up to date.
Garry joined PDMS in 2007 as a Senior Developer, progressing to a lead developer and to his present role of Technical Consultant. In joining PDMS, the business gained a talented, interested and experienced IT professional whose career has been driven by identifying and solving business problems with the appropriate use of technology. Garry’s interest has resulted in a broad skill set and the ability to carry out tasks as diverse as business analysis, system design, system architecture design, systems integration, user interface design, software development and database design.
Garry began his career in software studying a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Software Engineering. This two year full-time course, taught by industry professions, provided a broad education in software, balanced with real world application and the commercial aspects of the industry. Garry has since undertaken training in agile development.
After successfully completing the HND Diploma, Garry gained experience working for BOC Distribution (now Gist) where he rose to Senior Developer and Development Team Leader. Within this role, Garry managed a team of developers, and developed warehouse management systems and integration solutions. Here Garry pioneered the use of web technology to enhance customer feedback and promoted the use of emerging technologies to senior management and board members.
After some time at software developer Xpedior working on the Airtours/MyTravel’s online holiday booking site, Garry worked for Deloitte as a senior consultant. Here Garry spent a year as a resource advisor where he was responsible for allocating appropriate resources to projects and providing utilisation figures and advice to partners. Following this role Garry progressed to working on diverse projects in roles including developer, technical consultant and lead developer and architect. Garry left Deloitte to contract full-time for Medway Council, continuing a CRM Integration project began at Deloitte.
In his spare time Garry is (still) learning to play the guitar and pursues his interests in technology, fast cars and coming up with excuses for avoiding exercise. But not all at the same time.
