PDMS R&R Newsletter – Events, Maritime Forum and moreThursday September 6th 2018
Welcome to our latest PDMS R&R newsletter. We have been as busy as ever, this year visiting Geneva for EBACE, Athens for Posidonia and also sponsoring the IOM Aviation Conference whilst continually evolving our portfolio of registry solutions. If you’d like to speak to us about the newsletter, or any of PDMS Registry and Regulatory solutions products and services, please get in touch!
Aviation and Shipping conventions
We’ve had a busy couple of months having attended the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition 2018 (EBACE) in Geneva, in May and the Posidonia International Shipping Exhibition in Athens, in June. A key message from the events was the eagerness of both the aviation and maritime industries to modernise and embrace digital technology (for example moving towards the provision of online services and the issuance of digital certificates and digitally validated documents).
PDMS R&R sponsors IOM Aviation Conference
We were pleased to again sponsor the annual IOM Aviation Conference in its 8th year, in Douglas, Isle of Man. The event was a big success and was well attended by business aviation industry professionals working in many different sectors, from legal, regulation, through to operations management. It was great to hear from Simon Williams, the Director of Civil Aviation, Isle of Man Aircraft Registry giving an update on the positive continued success and strategic objectives of the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry. The event included interesting and informative panel discussions on topics ranging from: Brexit; VAT; Managing Risk; Compliance & safety; Risk analysis; aircraft operations and more.
IMF2018 International Maritime Forum event
Our Director, Bruce McGregor, attended the International Maritime Forum 2018 in Liverpool in June as part of IOM Maritime delegation focusing on the growing success and potential of the maritime industry & professional services clusters on the Isle of Man. The other delegates included the Head of IOM Ship Registry, Dick Welsh, Deputy Director of IOM Ship Registry, Cameron Mitchell, and Finance Director of Manx Ocean Crewing, Russ Kent. Bruce was part of a panel discussion on driving digital innovation and smart thinking to solve today’s shipping’s problems. It was a great event with subjects ranging from Digitisation, Northern Maritime Powerhouse, Big Data and Cyber Security.
IOMAR Registration of 1,000th aircraft
We want to congratulate our client, the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry on achieving their 1,000th registration! You can find out more about what the IOMAR can do for your aviation needs here. This achievement further positions IOMAR and the Isle of Man as a centre for aerospace and aviation services. Please get in touch with us here if you’re considering enhancing or starting new aircraft registry services.
ICS Shipping Industry Flag State Performance
We would also like to congratulate each of our Ship Registry clients on improving their performance on the ICS Shipping Industry Flag State Performance Table. The performance is calculated in terms of inter alia, Port State Control records, ratification of international conventions, and IMO meeting attendance. You can find the table in full here.
Second MARIS User Group meeting
We also wanted to say a big thank you to our MARIS Customers that attended our second MARIS User Group meeting back in April. We had very interesting and dynamic discussions, addressing challenges and driving forward thoughts and plans for future Registry and MARIS services. We are very much looking forward to our next user group meeting in October.
